Americas Cup 2007 in Valencia

Valencia will host the 32nd Americas Cup in 2007, the first time the classic sailing race will have been held in Europe. On three occasions in the past Valencia has served as the training base for Spanish teams which have competed for the Americas Cup, but this time, as host, the City is being transformed in preparation for the 2007 event. www.spanish-fiestas.com/valencia/americas-cup.htm

Valencia (Large Cultural City)

Valencia can be a City of clichés: the light, the moon, the gun-powder, the paella, the flowers, the fallas… they are keys which attempt to explain what words cannot tell. It is necessary to visit and get to know Valencia to verify that centenary traditions live together with modernity; that sea and city are compatible; that the green colour of farms can be kept together with a modern urban scheme; that Valencia is unique at night and during the day. But the capital of the river Turia is more than that. In addition to the innumerable attractions which the city has had for years, now there is a series of showy infrastructures such as the Cuidad de las Artes y las Ciencias (City of arts and sciences) and the Museo Principe Felipe which, as they are located in this environment, are linked to local culture. www.comunitatvalenciana.com/index.htm

Also if you're in Spain around March time and need some good reasons to travel to Valencia, Las Fallas is about the best one. Between the 12th and 19th of March, the people of Valencia block traffic with towering sculptured statues that artisans have spent the past year making. All day and night, crowds of locals and foreigners fill the streets and the sounds of exploding firecrackers and fireworks fill the air. If firecrackers scare you, it's always wise to be careful, but within a few hours of the explosions, you'll probably find that you're lighting some yourself. At the end of the week, the huge statues are awarded prizes and then all are set on fire, which marks the end of Las Fallas and the beginning of spring. Smaller celebrations start from the 1st March. www.lasfallas.com

Buñol (Famous for the Tomato festival)

It’s the end of the growing season and what do you do with Tons of surplus Tomatoes; yes have a big food fight which attract thousands from a far field as Australia. You have to see it to believe it. www.lahoya.net/

Now with local flights from most parts of the UK and Europe it’s the right time to come to Valencia.

 Cheste (Cheste Race Circuit)

Cheste is known to a lot of people because of it's race circuit. www.circuitvalencia.com famous people i.e.. Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton from the formula 1 practice here it has been announced that the race track or the city will host a formula 1 race . At the end of October is when Valencia hosts it's annual Moto GP world championship and the superbikes champioship in April, last year more than 210,000 people came from far and wide to visit the town of Cheste moto gp for the weekend fiesta. www.motogp.com

 Chiva

Chiva is a growing town with a lot of life, its a typical Spanish town with a population of 1,9000. Chiva is 25km from Valencia capital and 20km from the airport. August 15th is fiesta week for Chiva. There are bull runs through the streets (Don't worry the bull doesn't get hurt)  and everyone comes to take part whether they stand up high and watch and cheer or if your a fast runner then you can be 1 of the hundreds of people that run in front of the bull, there can be up to 3 bull runs in a day. If there isn't a bull run going on then there's parties in the streets day and night, foam and paint parties. And if that isn't enough for you then in the summer months there is a nightclub that opens called BSD known by people all over Valencia, Starts at 2am until dawn, think you can hack it?  You have to see it to believe it!
